You're Invited

I am excited to tell you about my first Open Studio event. I have been in business for two years and I haven't invited people into my studio to see what I do. Until now!

Letterpress can be a challenging craft to explain to folks. Seeing an example of what I print helps, but it doesn't help to convey what goes into creating those pieces. Letterpress printing is work. It's not for wimps. But it suites me. And that's why I love it.

This open studio event will be a great chance to show people what I do and why I think it is so cool. I think you will fall in love with letterpress as well when you get a chance to see cards being printed on my 1923 letterpress, grab an envelope, make it yours with twine and stamps and send it off in the mail (or keep it for yourself!).

To make this evening even more fun, a fellow letterpress printer Kyle Durrie from Power and Light Press will be in town (McMinnville, OR) the same evening for another open house. She is bringing her Moveable Type Truck and will be inviting folks in to share her love of print as well.

We want this to be a fun and hopefully insipring event. Come if you can.

Till then,

First Blog Post! A Little History...

My family has been in the printing business a long time, and the newspaper business even longer.  A lot of cool things come along with that history, one of those things being my 1923 letterpress. Last year we pulled it out of our warehouse and dusted it off.  With a bit of elbow grease and a lot of love I opened my shop, Type A Press.  I am so lucky to have the support of family and friends as I pursue my “side gig”.  The fun is just getting started, and I can’t wait to share with everyone my love for letterpress and my journey through all of the  (very) different areas of my life.
